VERDICT
YET ANOTHER "NOT GOOD ENOUGH, WE DESERVE BETTER"!
This event just about sums up how this PP Council treats residents here in Orihuela Costa.
It is a cheap, tacky disgrace and an insult to Oriolanos living on the Coast & to those traders who are taking part & trying hard to inject a bit of Christmas Spirit..
As for "Integration"....where are the free buses from Orihuela City & the Pedanias bringing Oriolanos from all parts of the municipality to share & enjoy this international event?
It´s not that Orihuela doesn´t know about arranging specialist markets, it boasts that it now hosts the largest annual Medieval Market in Spain.
It´s not that Orihuela knows nothing about splashing the cash & arranging magnificent celebrations.......Semana Santa, Arrival of the Three Kings, Moors and Christians.
It´s not that the PP Council knows nothing about spending money to influence voters with free transport, paella, sausages & other goodies.
Or are the number of votes in Orihuela Costa so few that the PP no longer needs to impress us?
There is still time to register to vote, you have till the 30th December and for those of us already registered there is still time to check that we haven´t been removed from the list.
I'm looking forward to see how Monica Lorente's new press officer writes this one up in the Round Town News, - Headline: 10,000 Orihuela Costa Residents flock to opening of Xmas Fayre!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to say that "Monica Lorente's new press officer", regardless of her intentions (for a better job to be able to look after her family)...is just a joke and a buy-out from her previous outlook against the PP!!... She has been bought by Lorente, and therefore is a traitor to the original cause she always fought for!...(Where has loyality gone to?? It certainly doesn't exist anymore, for people who go over bodies to achieve their goals!) And certainly not when I read an article in the Coast-Rider that "Stefan" probably is up for a councilers-job in case the PP wins the next election?? I for sure don't want a "Pre-Historic German god" representing the people of the Costa's, when its already well known that in his present position in the last 3 years he hasn't done a thing for the expats, for a job which he hasn't either earned or performed. Shame on Lorente and the whole PP that they don't care about the people on the Costa's.....This municipality should be run by qualified managers who know how to run a bussines, and not by corrupt politicians who are not even in "touch" with the population!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my working-life I have run bussines with a monthly budget of 21 million US dollars, and here they just squander a few million euro's a year on festivities???? God Help Us!

The Scrooges of Orihuela Council have struck again. They seem to think that any old rubbish will do for the people on the coast. I feel sorry for the traders who are having a difficult time and then have to put up this junk. I just hope that residents on the coast remember these insults and take their revenge in May 2011. Te only answer is vote for change. Vote PSOE
ReplyDeleteI havent seen the market yet but we had a similar tacky event on Entre Naranjos in July.- a so-called fiesta organised by our PP Mayor John Reynolds and the Town Hall. I felt very sorry for the market traders and many of those packed up and left after the first day. As for the cultural aspect, it mainly consisted of pub acts. I lost track of how many Frank Sinatra impersonators we watched as well as those doing Benny Hill,Dean Martin, and other members of the Rat Pack. Now maybe I have got things wrong but we do live in Spain and therefore we do expect to see and witness a little bit of Spanish Culture reflected in events promoted by Orihuela Council. What is worrying is that the Town Hall clearly think that all expats want tat. Dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a bit of tat when you feel like it but when it is handed out en mass to the public, paid for by tax payers money then I think we have grounds to complain.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am beginning to think is that Monica Lorente's administration have absolutely no idea what culture is. Whoever is advising Monica on these issues clearly needs some education.
Spend our money properly,Monica, and less of the tat please!
Me and my wife, just took the "occasional" trouble to have a visit to this socalled "X-Mas" festivities!
ReplyDeleteWe left after 5 minutes as it was a total disaster, the poorest African village in Africa would have done a damned site better!!!
